TBS Barbershops' response to COVID-19

To Our Valued Clients and Guests,

Much has changed in the world since the arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). First and foremost, our hearts go out to anyone who's been impacted by the virus. Our thoughts and well wishes are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Finally, we are all truly inspired by the selfless healthcare workers throughout our community who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for those in need. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do!

On Saturday, June 13, 2020, Governor Murphy issued Executive Order 154, permitting resumption of personal care services by licensees of the New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling as of 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020. This Administrative Order establishes additional health and safety standards to protect clients, staff, and licensed providers from the continued risks posed by COVID-19. The requirements are organized into the following sections:

  • Prepare for Reopening the Premises to Facilitate Social Distancing
  • Establish Protocols for the Scheduling of Client Appointments
  • Implement Protocols for Screening all Staff
  • Require Protective Equipment and Supplies
  • Enhance Disinfection and Cleaning Practices
  • Stay Informed About Developments and Obligations

To learn more about the protocols that these businesses must be adhered to to minimize person-to-person contact, please read the Requirements for Reopening Cosmetology and Massage Businesses.

Work is underway at our shops to prepare for our re-opening on June 22, 2020. As is noted in Governor Murphy's Executive Order 154, we are no longer permitted to service walk-in clients. Effective immediately, all clients seeking to have their haircut are now required to schedule an appointment at one of our shops. We are pleased to announce that you can now schedule your haircut appointment from your computer, smartphone, or telephone. Please visit our Schedule an Appointment page for more details about scheduling an appointment at one of our shops.

At TBS Barbershops, we strive to be as proactive as possible to ensure the health and safety of our Clients and Staff. We will continue to monitor the situation closely for new updates and will make changes to our operating and protocol guidelines as necessary to contain the potential spread of the virus. Sanitation and safety has always been paramount at our shops. Our sanitation and hygiene procedures are based on best practices, licensure, and current CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of communicable diseases. These include:

  • Our staff wash their hands and use hand sanitizer between all clients.
  • Our tools and equipment are sanitized and/or disposed of after each use.
  • Our towels are laundered in commercial-grade machines using hot water and fragrance-free detergents.
  • All high-touch areas are wiped with disinfectant wipes throughout the day.
  • All workspaces locations are cleaned and disinfected nightly using hospital-grade disinfectants and during this period we have increased our cleaning protocols to thoroughly disinfect all high-touch areas nightly.

While we won’t be able to shake your hand or give you a hug, please know how excited we are to welcome you back. We thank all of you for your support throughout the years and we look forward to seeing you in our of our shops soon!

Stay safe, wash your hands frequently, and leave what your hair looks like on Zoom or Webex to us!
